West Welcome Wagon

West Welcome Wagon Inc is a volunteer-run, registered charity supporting asylum seekers in Melbourne’s West. They provide good quality donated items, in home English language support, food aid, community connectedness and more.

They run an excellent Facebook page which matches items people donate with the needs of asylum seekers and their families. Sign up for more details and make sure you read their careful instructions on how to use the page to offer your donations:

The Asylum Seeker Resource Centre

The Asylum Seeker Resource Centre in Footscray receives donations of food and household items. They also accept financial donations and gift cards and have seasonal drives for blankets and other items. They do not accept second hand clothes, furniture or white-goods. The Welcome Group/Bridging the gap

Bridging the Gaps is a material aid donation program that supports newly arrived and vulnerable refugees. They collect and distribute donations of both new and second hand goods to refugee families.

Kindred

Kindred run material aid drives regularly throughout the year, with collection points mainly in the Dandenong Ranges area. These goods are donated to the ASRC. They have a limited capacity to place one off donations. Joining their Action Network on Facebook will allow you to view requests as they are posted.

Friends of Refugees

Friends of Refugees (FOR) was established to support Asylum Seekers released from detention and living in the Australian community. They provide material aid, support services and social engagement.

Material aid such as basic food staples, new or second hand white goods and baby items such as prams, strollers and nappies are particularly needed.

 Their main drop off point is 13, Leslie St, Dandenong.
